Lucky Lazlo

Lucky Lazlo by Steve Light, Candlewick Press, 2016. ISBN: 9780763688257. Reviewed by John R. Clark, MLIS.

Lazlo’s in love with a girl starring in Alice in Wonderland. He has a front row seat and is excited to see the show. After buying the last red rose from a flower vendor, he feels very lucky…Until he walks into metal pole near the theater and drops his rose.

A cat grabs it and leads Lazlo on a merry and sometimes not so merry chase through the theater. Everything ends well and young readers/listeners will enjoy the illustrations as the chase proceeds. The illustrations are catchy as are the escapades during the chase. Children will find the book quite appealing. It’s a good addition for both school and public libraries.
